Per leads his first pop band at Furet, Pepcis who mimes
to Animals and Tages. Sticks and things from the kitchen
MP begins to play Trumpet and joins the
Per writes his first lyric and colours his hair

follows a class mate and starts to take organ-lectures at
Hagströms music school. Some years later he also takes
lectures in classical guitar from Bert Möller who then
tips him off about Ander's and Micke's band.

Peter Nilsson introduces his class mate Per to
MP from his band Audiovisuellt Angrepp. Everyone goes at
Kattegattskolan. Per and Pedda in a society course, and
MP spends four years in technical study.
Micke and Anders form the band Dad´s Army with
Per and MP form the duo Grape Rock on the 19th
Dad´s Army change name to Yggdrasil, and is
extended with Göran Fritzon on a red un-tuned
Panther-organ and plays rock with society critic lyrics
as "Skolan, skolan" and "Under

Micke "Keef" Andersson
from Yggdrasil, drums and his friend Janne Carlsson, bass
(left-handed like Paul McCartney smiles Per) joins and
Grape Rock becomes Gyllene Tider after an instrumental
Martin Brandqvist, son to the choir
leader in Harplinge church, replaces Micke and Yggdrasil
change name to Tellus Anima where Fritte buys a
Per, MP, Janne and friend Micke Halling get
caught in the Customs in Helsingborg for smuggling
instruments and amplifiers. The equipment is taken but
after huge fines and a letter of regret signed by Gessle
it is returned. And Per gets his wine-red Gibson Les Paul
Custom 1970 which Jimmy Page used in Led Zeppelin and MP
gets his Fender, exactly like Francis Rossi in Status
"Svensk rock mot Gyllene Tider?"
(Swedish rock against Gyllene Tider?). A notice in
Expressen by Mats Olsson the 28th April. The
day before Pers father passes away with cancer.
Live-debut at Bio Reflex in Getinge the 12th
may. Friends and 50 more come. The twelve minutes long
"Syndafloden", "Ernst e full",

The recording of the Yellow EP in Studio CMP at
Kärleken is started with Per's friend from the time as

Per gets his first STIM-money, 117 SKr. Tellus
Anima shivers and Fritte and Anders lose contact
The EP is finally out after printing and
distribution problems. The city is upholsted with pink
A4-posters with the text "Gyllene Tider har inte SEX
utan fem låtar på sin nya EP. Köp den". (Gyllene
Tider has not SIX but five songs on their new EP. Buy it)
With SIX in giant letters.
The Christmas concerts in Getinge and Halmstad
with the first concert posters and a hand written twelve
page programme by Per, "Souvenir Programme" for
five SKr with everything about members, songs and an
offer to join Gyllene Tider Fan Club Dept. Europe.
Membership 500 SKr. and 2000 for jazz-freaks. At the
concert in Getinge on the 21st, Andy Fretless shows up on
the scene with "Hjärtekrossaren" (after Tom
Petty's Heartbreakers) with Anders and Göran. MP and
Micke three days later decide to follow and the name
Gyllene Tider kept and the group takes over Tellus
Animas' rehersal place in Harplinge school.
Kjell Andersson from EMI calls and says that he
likes "Billy" and wants more material. Lasse
Lindbom, who produce another band from Halmstad, Sydkraft
go to listen.
Per sends ten songs plus a little more, which
dont have to count.
"Flickorna på TV2" is it
Gessle changes hair colour from dark black to
The LP recording begins at EMI Studio 2 in
Stockholm. "När ni faller, faller ni hårt" is
first ready. Before their departure, Tiderna played a
free concert at Bastionen. Almost 1500 people come!
G.T. plays for the first time outside the
community after a rehersal in Åleds militarty building.
Village in Stockholm is the place where a cassette with
" has become a cult. The day
before it is released party was held for "Glitter,
glögg & rock'n roll", it was where "24
December" becames Gyllene Tider's first song under
the label of Parlophone.
"Flickorna på TV2" which first was
the b-side to "Himmel no 7" becomes a huge
success. There is a TV-debut in Måndagsbörsaen and a
second place in Poporama seeeing Per sent up a postcard
that had been left over at Pyramiden and then together
with the band and friends writes in and votes. The scam
is revieled but gives good publicity.
The first LP, first pressed in yellow vinyl, is
released. Before then has Per and Mats as Peter Pop &
the Helicopters released "After school" like an
answer to Factory's "Efter plugget". Secrecy
was the thought before a writer, by mistake, slips his
Gessle/Persson debuts as composers to qualify in
the Eurovision song contest with "För dina bruna
ögons skull" performed by Lasse Lindbom. It ends up
coming last while Tomas Ledins "Just nu" wins.
Per sends a English version of "Ska vi
älska så ska vi älska till Buddy Holly" to Paul
McCartney who has the rights to Buddy's songs. But an
answer never arrives.
Gold records for both the LP (50 000) and the
single (25 000). The group has chosen "Lilla
Showringen" as the booking company before EMA
Telstar. They were employed when the money start to roll
in and are now the responsibility of the economy of Janne
Beime since he came into the picture.
The new single "När vi två blir en"
sells in excess of 100 000, and is number 1 for 16 weeks
and pulls the first record back to the first place again.
"Moderna Tider" which first was called
"Självutlösning" (therefore the cover with
the camera) is released. Soon the LP will become the
group's best selling album ever, (390 000).
Pop-hysteria rules. And the public records is
long gone. But on Walpurgis three kids were trampled to
death in connection with the concert in Kristianopel.
Choked members cancel the three coming concerts, one is
back home in Halmstad.
"Parkliv" with Lasse Hallström as
director is filmed.
Anders and Micke records a LP with MaMas Barn
(Marie Fredriksson and Martin Sternhufvud).

"Puls", the groups third LP, is
MP, Anders, Göran and Micke are enlisted into
the army. Per didnt have to do it and begins his
Per Gessle releases his first solo-LP at the
same time Gyllene Tider is going down.
The group decides to continue. But in English.
The coming of Tits & Ass-studio marks a new rehersal
place and studio.
"Heartland Café" is the name of
English debut. But for G.T. the sale of about 45 000 is
almost a flop.
The last tour, everyone thought until this
summer, starts. With Marie Fredriksson in the choir and
Janne Bark on guitar.
Introducing abroad with a mini-LP. But instead
of Golden Times and Modern Times the new name is Roxette
after an old Dr-Feelgood-song. In an interview in HP Per
says: In two, three years I think we sell 100 000 records
again. But then it wasnt Roxette that he
Anders is fed up that Pers solo project goes
over time and becomes the one who breaks up Gyllene
Per Gessles second solo-LP, "Scener"
is released. But the interest is cool.
Pers hobby-project with Marie Fredriksson, the
song "Neverending love" becomes a success. And
the amazing Roxette-story begins.
Per turns 30 years old and on the party at
Kavaljeren, Gyllene Tider is reunited for one evening. At
the same time "The Look" has begun to be played
frequently in the USA.
Gyllene Tider celebrates their 10 year
anniversary and releases the collection "Instant
hits 1979-1989", a double-LP which besides
containing 15 old songs, contains six new as Pers Garage.
And it sells platinum!
CD-box "Kompakta tider" with the
live-CD "Parkliv" as a bonus disc is released.
Gyllene Tider releases "Instant hits"
again - but now on CD as "Halmstads pärlor".
The band is re-united in connection with the release
party at Penny Lane in Halmstad and the pressure
increases on a public comeback.
Gyllene Tider at Stora torg. More than 17 000
people and a magical evening at "Halmstad All Star
Festival". People all from over Sweden and even
abroad come to the city and those who didn´t get in fill
the surrounding streets.
The EP with "Gå & fiska",
"Juni, juli, augusti", "Harplinge"
and "Faller ner på knä" is released and it is
soon number one on the singles chart. At the same time
it, as a bonus EP, pulls "Halmstads pärlor" up
to the top on the album-chart.
First night "at Per Gessle house" at
the Beach Club in Tylösand. Two days later first night
for Återtåget with Wilmer X and Love Olzon. First
concert is at Slottsruinen in Borgholm and get a royal
glance when the Royals with children is there. Everyone
gets a Harplinge-T-shirt and gets the road description
to the society, Per shows the accordian for queen
Silvia to "Kung av sand" and King Carl XVI
leave the place with a red Leif-cap on the head. Later in
the summer at Stockholm Stadium, 32 000 people arrive to
listen - only U2 and Bruce Springsteen has allured more
people there and the flag with Halmstads city weapon
flutters proudly over Stockholm.
Återtåget reaches its final station with
double-concerts at Brottet home in Halmstad. Then has
almost 300 000 people seen and heard the biggest triumph
train in swedish pop-history ever.
